About the Ranger Service: The Piha Ranger is engaged to assist with the conservation and enhancement of the natural beauty, wildlife and heritage of the Piha area whilst maintaining Council's assets and interests as well as overseeing the general wellbeing and safety of the public at large.  The Ranger also monitors and audits Council assets, ensuring law and bylaw enforcement, management of recreational sites and activities implementing and coordinating practical maintenance work and conservation work as required.

The Ranger maintains a positive experience for local ratepayers and visitors to the area, acting  as the 'eyes and ears' of the Council monitoring recreational activities and events, monitoring and managing dog and vehicles on beach, reporting antisocial behaviour to the relevant agency, providing information, knowledge and advice to visitors and assisting Council staff, Council contractors and emergency services as required.

Here, Phil, has done some weeding on the corner of Seaview and Beach Valley Road ready for some autumn underplanting.

Jan '10: The Piha WCC Rangers assist WCC by erecting the 'liquor in public places ban' in force during the ISA Junior World Surf Champs.

From left: Yip, that's the right sign.  Here, you take it Phil.  Yip that looks good.  Susie, hold that ladder steady.

Job done!

18th April 2010  Trustees say 'Thanks' to our 2010 Rangers with a BBQ dinner and debrief.   The Piha CoastCare Trustees decided it would be nice to put on a BBQ to thank our Rangers for the great job they did in the 2010 summer season and used the opportunity for a two way debrief.  It was unfortunate only four Trustees could attend but it's not easy getting us all together - we're pretty busy.

Back Row:  Bobbie Carroll (Ranger Manager), Phil McLaren and Berend Westera (CoastCare Chair)

Front Row: Susie Boyd-Brown, Yvonne Dufaur (Treasurer) and Pat laRoche (Co-coordinator)

Phil and Susie were our 2010 Rangers.

Left:  Berend, Susie, Pat, Yvonne and Phil having a few drinks before the BBQ.

A relaxed, informal  get together.
