Natives in Piha

Muehlenbekia, Native spinach and Knobbly Clubrush

Click on the thumbnail on the left to see:

Yellow: Knobbly club rush: A fine green-orange sedge that forms fountain like clumps readily spreading by self seeding

Red: NZ Spinach or Tetragonia implexicoma: A coastal plant with a spreads of 2 metres or more. The leaf is edible as a vegetable.

Blue: Muehlenbeckia is a fabulous plan to grow over fences, over ghastly concrete retaining walls and to hold banks. It is beautiful to the eye and great at inhibiting weeds.
